For a day out at a UK attraction, different events may require slightly different essentials, but in general you can use this handy list to make sure you’re packed and prepared for a good day out:

1. Clothing: Wear comfortable, layered outfits and bring a waterproof jacket or umbrella (UK weather can be unpredictable). Comfortable shoes are an absolute must.
2. Necessities: Don’t forget your tickets, ID and cash/cards.
3. Weather considerations: Pack sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for sunny days, or a scarf and gloves if it’s cooler.
4. Food & Drink: Carry a water bottle and snacks, especially if you have dietary needs.
5. Tech: Don’t forget your phone, charger, and a camera to capture special moments from your day.
6. Extras: Tissues, hand sanitiser, and any necessary medication.

For families, bring a change of clothes and toys for kids. If you’re heading somewhere rural, a picnic blanket or insect repellent may also come in handy.

1. Big Ben & Houses of Parliament:

• London Eye: Just across the Thames, take in stunning views of London’s skyline.
• Shrek’s Adventure! London: A fun, interactive experience with beloved characters from the Shrek films, perfect for families.
• Sea Life London Aquarium: Just a short walk away, discover a wide variety of marine life.
• The London Dungeon: Experience London’s dark history with spooky, immersive shows and rides.
• Westminster Abbey: Explore this historic site, home to royal coronations and burials.

2. Tower of London:

• Tower Bridge: Visit the Tower Bridge Exhibition and walk along the glass floor.
• St. Katharine Docks: Enjoy a peaceful marina with restaurants and cafes nearby.

3. St. Paul’s Cathedral:

• Millennium Bridge: A pedestrian bridge with views of the Thames leading to the Tate Modern.
• Museum of London: Learn about the city’s history, located close to the cathedral.

4. Buckingham Palace:

• Green Park: Ideal for a stroll or picnic.
• The Royal Mews: See the King’s carriages and horses.

The time you should put aside for attending an event depends on several factors, such as the event type, its location, and logistics. Here’s a general guide:

1. Arrival Time:
   • Arrive 30-60 minutes early, especially for large events, to allow time for security checks, finding your seat, purchasing refreshments, a toilet stop before the event begins and crowd navigation. Ticketing information will often give you an indication on how early you should arrive before an event starts.
2. Event Duration:
   • Concerts, shows, or performances: Typically concerts and shows last between 2-3 hours, including possible intermissions.
   • Exhibitions or attractions: Plan for 1-3 hours, depending on the size and your interest level.
   • Sporting events: Depending on the sport, allocate around 2-3 hours (football matches are usually 90 minutes, but allow extra time for halftime and possible delays).
3. After the Event:
   • It usually takes 15-30 minutes to leave a large venue, especially if there are crowds or transport delays.

For a smooth experience, consider travel time and possible post-event activities.
