As of 2024, many West End theatres remain open on Sundays for matinee and in some cases evening performances.
The following musicals and theatre shows can be attended on Sundays in London:
Many West End theatres have performances on Monday nights, but often those shows that have Sunday performances close on Mondays and/or Tuesdays. You can’t see Disney’s Frozen The Musical, Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, Les Misérables, Matilda The Musical, The Mousetrap, SIX The Musical or Wicked on Mondays.
The following shows are currently closed on Tuesdays: Back to the Future The Musical, Disney’s Frozen The Musical, Harry Potter And The Cursed Child, Mamma Mia! The Musical, TINA – The Tina Turner Musical.
Evening performances of London Theatre shows by and large start at 19:30 every night that there is a performance, but there is some variation on this.
Matinees vary depending on the show. Traditionally shows have a Wednesday and Saturday matinee at 14:30, but many now offer matinee performances on Thursdays, Sundays or even Tuesdays.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child runs two-show days across Wed, Fri, Sat and Sun, with performances at 14:00 and 19:00 Wed-Sat and 13:00 and 18:00 on Sundays.
